I think this is really funny on Facebook, its the new “School Feed” application that lets you get back in touch with your entire class from high school.

Basically the logic is great, you add your friends and make new connections, its the perfect use for the Facebook Graph API.

This is the best part, removing posts with School Feed – they add a “Remove this post” as the action link, so instead of users marking the post as spam, they can click that link and then it never gets reported to Facebook. So – I’ve been clicking everyone I see, and magically most of my friends now have the School Feed application blocked since anyone can click the link to remove the item & block the user.

Here is a screen shot of the “Like” + “Comment” + “Remove this post” link – very classy!

So apparently theft must be way up at the Walmart in little old Monona, WI – they actually have someone who appears to basically be manager checking receipts on the way out…

Here’s my solution: why don’t they just put those theft tags on everything? Monona’s Walmart also probably has the poorest design, since they don’t separate the entrance from the exit at all, just encouraging people to easily walk out…

What Walmart needs: “FastPass” – you wait in a LONG line to checkout, just to wait in a LONG line to get out of the store. What a joke…

I found it funny to hear people complaining about our high gas prices, so even if they are $4/gallon, here are a list of things that people pay that for every day:

-Starbucks Coffee (cost to produce: maybe $0.40?)
-Fiji Water (cost to produce: maybe $0.20 – most of which is the bottle?)
-Red Bull (cost to produce: maybe $0.40?)
-Glass of Beer @ Bar
-Big Mac
-Dry Cleaning (ok, maybe 1.5 shirts)

So why is everyone concerned when the price raises a little? Most people can afford it, and you see people flocking to Starbucks even more when they raise their prices… or McDonalds, and everywhere else – and no one complains about it.

Why does Shazam not differentiate movies from songs (like it does with commercials), and then give the option to view/download the entire soundtrack.. That would be cool!

Wi-Fi (even when its “secured” is unsecured by nature, there are programs out there to crack the keys as quick as you grab a soda from the fridge.

Here’s a good solution, even if a Wi-Fi network is open, if you VPN – your data becomes secure. There should be a service out there that sets up one-off VPN connections just so users can secure their wifi. When you VPN in, the tunnel encrypts all your traffic (if I remember correctly from school) – why not just VPN all the time? It would be way more secure, and in any public place then your data would be encrypted when it goes through the air…

So I am guilty of having a Cisco router at home in the past, and during the brief time when I had it – I did do this for a while, and it worked pretty slick. The one downside is it is an extra step each time you connect to wifi, but I’m sure in today’s age it could easily be automated somehow…

I’m frustarted with hearing that “jobs are down” or “jobs are up” or “this elected official is failing because there aren’t enough jobs.”

Here’s the real problem, there aren’t enough qualified workers! ANY private sector business would hire someone if they are going to end up being positive for the company. If you create a spreadsheet showing how you could work somewhere, and be a positive financial impact on the company – why wouldn’t they hire you.

Not just in sales either, if you can produce something or show how you can save a company money, and really stand out – then go for it.

Jobs in this country are down because there aren’t enough qualified and motivated workers, if people are really motivated then they can find not just a job, but a place that they will have a positive impact on and be a true member of the team!

American Express has always had high standards in my view, I love how clean and professional their website is. I always felt like Capital One was like a carnival, they had a ton of various advertising all over.

That being said, more and more now when after logging into their online account management, I see ads within the portal where I make my payment. They are also targeted, and remind me almost exactly of the ads I see served from google adwords…

Financial institutions should NOT advertise within their platforms, even though it is some extra revenue – it confuses consumers. Consumers are scammed enough, but when ads appear and don’t even say anything around them like “Sponsored Ad” the consumer thinks that they are affiliated with the financial institution.

My take: The government needs to set some advertising regulations for Financial Institutions on their websites, the biggest players there are out there are the ones trying to make a extra buck with ads..

Cable companies are expensive, and with all the competition the space is very competitive. DirecTV takes it to a whole new level, and made some commercials so far out there, that by the end you are thinking WTF… which is great.

This is the best, with crazy animal person…

This app is more active than farmville! Always curious and careful, I took the plunge and signed up, but restricted what they could do (ex: publish & offline access) so my I knew I wouldn’t start spamming…

school feed on facebook

Basically, they do a great job of publishing out to your social networking, and they have done a great job since I Have seen about 50 of my classmates and FB friends signup. It then continues to keep publishing with the offline_access token to others profiles, ultimately causing more to signup.

I have to say whoever thought this up is a genius, they only failed because they didn’t allow people to signup without Facebook. By taking it away from Facebook, they could have probably taken a lot of traffic over to their own site – and made a lot more money.

Overall, AVOID this facebook app! It’s just spam in 2012.
